I was browsing around IMDB.Com and found this.
MP Lists "Running Zack", the episode where Zack explores and learns about his Native American heritage and forms a close bond with a local Indian, as his favorite episode of "Saved By The Bell".
Would of never guessed.

Funny you should mention this, I was just querying it the other day. Mark-Paul frequently lists his favourite SBTB experience as Hawaiian Style. This 'trivia' actually has no verified basis and is actually pasted into IMBd from TV.com - which is often very unreliable (the problem with sites based on fan contribution that aren't checked by people in the know ! It'd be quite funny if it were true - Running Zack has copped a lot of flack for its questionable stereotyping!

The problem with sites like IMDB are that much of the information is 'user submitted' and therefore unverifiable.
Just look at the 'quotes' section from any show and you'll see tons that are wrong.

It'd be quite funny if it were true - Running Zack has copped a lot of flack for its questionable stereotyping! I think I'm in the minority here, but I actually like Running Zack. It's not my favorite episode, but I think it has some good merits. It's interesting how in 15 years (since that show aired) our opinions of stereotyping have changed. I'm not saying for better or worse, you can decide that for yourself, but you can't have a show about morals if you never show the characters acting immoral. Zack and Screech's initial portrayal of an Indian was inappropriate, and Zack was justly punished for it. However, I have no problem when Zack took the project seriously and dressed up as an Indian chief for his presentation. Think about it, if you are Japanese and are to present your culture, clothing and dress is very integral. Unfortunately, it seems like some topics these days can't even be discussed because of social taboos, even if they are done tastefully. Granted, Jessie's constant apologizing to Lisa is obnoxious and borders on ridiculous, but I wonder if any family show today would even touch a subject such as slavery and reparations.

Like you, I have no problem with their handling of Zack's supposedly native American heritage. Saying that, maybe some people do. Obviously there is a big pressure to be politally correct in this day and age but I don't think the show ever had anything but the best intentions and wanted only to entertain and to an extent educate. A lot of people would have something to say about it, I guess - but its only the same as how some people were stereotyped as a 'nerd,' Jessie was stereotyped as the 'egghead,' Kelly was the 'cheerleader'... stereotyping has to take place on TV because we simply can't represent every single person. On the whole I think SBTB did the best it could, I've never found it offensive!

I enjoyed that episode. I think it was a great idea that they did an episode like that.

i never thought it was offensive either. its good but just not one of my favs because i always liked where it included more of the cast not just zack. like when i was younger and watching it i got kinda bored but its a good subject to do an episode about.

running zack is a cool episode. i think its a milestone in SBTB in that im pretty sure it deals with the supernatural in zack getting the headband with the message on it, unless he had just left it there from the night before.

I never liked Running Zack. It's great that we got to see another side of his character, but in all honesty, the episode never really did anything for me.

I mean, yeah, he doesn't look like a direct descendant, but he could definitely be part indian as he was in the show. I'm part indian, but you'd never guess LOL
