Ok, I know this has been discussed before I'm sure...but it still gets to me. There is no way on earth Kelly's family is a low income family, or even close to it. hahaha Her house is big, her room is huge, she's got her own bathroom, and she's got a huge wardrobe. Not to mention with all those brothers and sisters... Yeah, there's no way. I know SBTB is all messed up, but to give her a room with her own bathroom...I can understand them wanting to give her a huge wardrobe, cause she's got to look good...but she's got to be in character. I bet you her character has more clothes than Lisa lol

yes i totally agree on this one! i mean her bedroom was bigger and more well decorated than mine. youd think it would be a smaller room at least with an extra bed for a sister. these people were so out of it when they wrote this stuff! lol

LOL! There was no way Kelly was poor. I've always thought about this too. And what i also thought about too is in the Prom episode couldn't she of just wore one of her old dresses she had lying around. I mean Zack paid for the ticket and everything, all she needed was the dress. But who knows. You bring up a good point though Barb.

Maybe her family was rich and bought a big house and then they fell on hard times - that might explain the room but not all her clothes! She obviously wasn't that poor!
Maybe they shot some scenes in the bedroom early on in the series, before they decided to mention she was poor - and then they couldnt change her bedroom because they'd already shown it.

Just because someone has a big house doesn't mean they can't be low income. There are government programs, heat help programs, so you can have a nice house but still be struggling.

Well, if you want to get technical, the show never mentioned anything about "being poor" or Kelly's family having a "low income". The premise of the prom episode was the fact that Kelly's father lost his job and they were GOING to experience a financial stretch, but not at the present moment. Remember, it's not like Kelly couldn't afford the prom dress, but she would have rather contributed the money to her family. We're assuming Kelly's father got a job after prom, though it's never mentioned.
Or... we could just add it to the numerous inconsistencies SBTB has to offer. LOL
But yeah, no way was Kelly "poor".

There are references throughout the show that pretty much say she doesn't have much money. And her very strong need to work is another. One example is in Blind Dates where Lisa and Kelly plan a scheme to make Jessie realize you shouldn't judge someone.

i agree they always made references that led you to belave they were poor. like even in the wedding movie she said something like my parents support us but they cant give us much money.

Kelly was probably "poor" by Pacific Palisades standards. "The Palisades", as they call it on the show, is one of the ritzier So Cal neighborhoods. To give you some perspective, it's right next to Malibu. So instead of having 2 bathrooms, Kelly only had one.
