I have stayed away from this conversation and read every post. I agree with different points made, and I disagree with some. Cindy, I agree totally that we should be happy for the dvds to be released in the first place. We would be even more angry than we are now! However, I disagree with the statement that numerous ppl have made , saying that they will not buy the set because of the cover art. At the end of the day, it's their choice wether or not they buy it or not, however I will still buy the boxset even though I think the cover art is truly disrespectful to Leanna Creel, Liz Berkley, and to every single Saved By The Bell fan. I also believe that , as far as the reason for the cover art goes, it is not necesserily down to Lions Gate. Yes, it probably is , but it may not be so, I think it's wromg for ppl to jump to conclusions. As far as their lie to us about working on extra goes, I won't even start!!!

Nem, I think you are missing a very important point. It is possible Lions Gate were working on Extras. Like in the last set, they were probably trying to get commentary. But, who's to say the cast didn't bail out the last minute? Who's to say they couldn't or wouldn't participate? Maybe Lions Gate was waiting on something beyond their control (NBC, the cast, etc). And we don't know for sure, but a whole movie (Hawaiian Style) included with season 5 is a pretty big extra if you ask me!! We still don't know the final product, so let's not give up hope just yet. I understand what you're trying to say, but lets say they were trying to get someone from the cast to do commentary, you'd think that they would sign the person to a contract incase the person wanted to bail out. As for beyong their control, then dont say that your gonna have Extra's. Just say that you're currently in contact with NBC about something. But then again, they can't always be 100% at blame. So Im not gonna blame them if its beyong their control.

Hey Gang,
I've been really busy at school and just finished going through most of the responses on this subject and are there ever a lot of them!!! ;D
I do agree with people being upset at LG once again screwing up, and of course everyone here has the right to state their opinions. And yes there is the principle of the whole matter...
BUT...
At the end of the day when it comes to watching SBTB will you be watching the cover, or the DVDs? I can't imagine a true SBTB fan not buying season 5 because of the screwed up cover. At my house the cover gets put back in the cabinet while I watch the DVD.
I know that everyone here is a huge fan of SBTB and that being treated by LG the way that we are is terrible at best, but we have to be realistic. Be honest, would you rather have this version of season 5, or no version of season 5 at all? I'm upset too, but I am not going to let the cover, which sees the light of day for the few seconds that it takes to get the DVD out, keep me from buying and enjoying the last remaining episodes of the original SBTB. If anything I agree more with those who are upset at the prospect of getting season 5 with no extras than I am about another botched cover.
That said, I do respect the opinions of all who have posted on this topic. I think we just need to take a deep breath, relax a bit, and put it into perspective.
That's just my two cents.

I think the reason why so many of us are upset over the cover is not because dvd covers "make" our lives complete or make what's inside good or bad. It's the fact that it's a slap in the face, and so obvious that they cut someone's face off, someone who was a part of a show for so long. The bottom line is: it is INSULTING. To me, you, every fan, but most importantly to Elizabeth Berkley. How would you feel if your body was left in a picture but your face was replaced? They could release the set with a plain blue cover, I wouldn't care. But to chop off someone's head and replace it with someone else's face is beyond comprehendible. I'm upset FOR Elizabeth Berkley... M Side note: I'm friends with the owner of tvshowsondvd.com, we've been talking about this, and he says he's not surprised. He said Lion's Gate is the worst dvd producer in the business, and his emails are not being answered. EXACTLY.

The ;D Friar True, I will buy regardless, but it's also the bad transfer that bothers me! My old recordings are better quality! Some of you may not notice, but I have high tech equipment and I can really, really tell the difference. How many fans here DO notice the weird lagging or even skipping or freezing? Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere...

The ;D Friar That's not going to stop me from buying the DVD. My point is why do they always do a HORRIBLE job in the DVD's? I know what you mean. The lagging shouldn't be there, the skipping(it happend to me a few times) and the freezing. It's really weird because SBTB is the only DVD that I have that does all those stuff. the cover wont stop me from buying it, but you have to remember the stuff INSIDE the DVD. We got the episodes, BUT, during the episodes it does some weird stuff like Zach said.

I would really like a response to this, since I my last post was ignored I am a die hard fan of Saved By The Bell. The cover is important to me. However, I think this is getting out of hand. Does anybody know for sure if LG did that cover? I'm asking because of ALL the post I've read I'm wondering if that's still up in the air. What if someone else did it and is reading all these posts and is laughing there head off? I read one very important part. That part was that LG as a contract with NBC, which tells me if LG did do this, they could face a major lawsuit. As far as extras go, I thought you were talking about some bloopers or something like that. If the movies or even one movie doesn't make it on the DVD, I won't be complaining. I'll just get them seperately. As far as commentaries go, that would be great, but does anyone know what the stars are doing now? Mark-Paul is doing "Hitch" for fox, I can't remember what Mario is doing but I know he has a lot of projects going on. Dustin, I know he's doing his comedy, Tiffani, well I'm surprised that girl has time to sleep! She's got a wedding to plan, just did a pilot for a new TV show and she has signed on to star in the movie "Halloween 9", Elizabeth is usually pretty busy, and Lark I don't know what she's been up to. Dennis probably just automatically past on it. Remember, Dustin, Lark and Dennis all did comentary for for the one box set. Plus, if I'm correct Mario did comentary on SBTB:TNC. This could be a reason why there is no comentary, there may be comentary all this posts have just got me so confused with so many "what ifs", they ALL decided to pass on it. If so, we'll just have to do with out. As far as feeling like we should just be happy that the DVD is coming out? NO! I won't just be happy that it is coming out. WE are the customers. The only time we should have been happy that it was at least coming out was when the first to seasons came out. Now look at the covers of the first two box sets? I think it's safe to say that's all were're asking for. Same with TCY. That cover was just fine. And for the people that say we would be complaining if it weren't coming out for another year, or something like that, please don't speak for us. If Erika were to post that it was going to even be an indefinet delay, but it was definetely going to be coming out, I'd wait. Why complain? If I got anything wrong on this posting, or seem as though I'm confused about what's going on, as a part of this forum I hope you guys treat me like a team member and give me the correct info. QueenKelly I seriously want a response!

Peter Engel has said over and over that they threw away bloopers and outakes. They just didn't keep them. That's all I know.
We assume that LG made the covers. They have the agreement with NBC. Now what that agreement/contract says is anyone's guess. My guess is all NBC does is supply the episodes, photos, and then gets profits from the sales...

Matt You'll have to excuse me for not knowing what Mr. Engel said about bloopers. I have not been a part of this forum for very long, and have no personal connections to Mr. Engel. The only conversation I have been involved in about Mr. Engel is the pretty obvious non-reunion with the cast. I don't know if you meant that part as a criticism, but that's how i'm taking it! As for the second, thank you for telling me what I already know!

However, I think this is getting out of hand. I totally agree with you, when i first posted this, I had no idea there would be over 100 responses. Anyway, the cover should not be as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. If you honestly think it's that big of a deal, I challenge to figure out the amount of time you actually spend looking at it...

Nick
Just want to let you know I partially agree with you. The cover is important to me. I know you don't think the cover is important and I respect your opinion. That's the part I disagree with you on.
You'll be happy to here this part. I totally agree with you when you say this has gotten out of hand. The cover is important to me, but this has become an obsession! On one of my posts I suggested that we all step back, but I got no acknowledgement. As far as I'm concerned, that post was ignored which led me to ad another post, that's the one I put today that's getting response. I completely agree with you. This issue has gotten totally out of hand.
Thank you for responding and I'm hoping I'll get more response. Then I'll feel like I'm part of the forum!
Thanks again!

And Peter Engel, literally, has said it over and over again...lol Just not at this forum, though...through interviews and the last set of dvd's. Unfortunately, nothing was kept because they were low on funds in creating the show.
