Since there are a lot of "New Kids at Bayside" who want to know about Karma. I thought maybe we could post something explaining it.

I don't really know how to explain it as well as the Mods.

Karma goes like this....
An A+ gives you 1 point An F gives you -1 point
So for example if seven different people gave me an A+ my score would be a 7 but if one person decided for some reason to give me and F my score would go down to a 6. Get it?
You can give an A+ for any reason. I always give them to newbies with a 0 score to help them get started. You can give a point to just be nice. It does`nt matter. It`s just another way to show some Bayside love.

Here is another explanation from Barb taken from another post asking a similar question...
It's just a point system...doesn't do anything. It's just there to kind of grade people. Around here we pretty much only give bad karma if a person does something inappropriate against our forum rules. You can only grade 1 person for every hour I believe. But in conclusion, it's just for fun.
Oh, you'll find it marked as Report Card throughout the forum....only in your profile is it labeled karma.

so when can people give me points cuz I don't see an A+ or F standing next to my profile...and I don't see it with all members...why is that?

so when can people give me points cuz I don't see an A+ or F standing next to my profile...and I don't see it with all members...why is that? You can get points for anything. The more popular you become on the board, the more people agree with what you're saying or how you're saying it can also earn you a few points. However, if you come to the boards and bash other members, or say something that makes you look like an ignormaus, expect a barrage of F's. Karma is almost like a member's reputation. Someone with a high karma is probably well-liked and can post intelligent, lucid posts. Someone with a negative karma is likely to be insulting, degrading, or in some way, indirectly lowering the value of why we post here in the first place.

no no I understood that (but thanx anyway ) But my question was why there don't stands an A+ or F next to me mine profile on the left (beneath posts) so you can't grade me(right?), and sometimes it is impossible to grade other members because they don't have an A+ or F standing next to their profile either...why is that? :-[Srry if I wrote it a bit vague, I hope you understand my question now (?)

There is no A+ or F under your own report card scale because you can not grade yourself.

The reason why you do not see grades in your mini profile is because you cannot grade yourself.
Remember that when you grade someone, you have to wait an hour before you can grade someone else. That is probably the reason you sometimes do not see the grades on member's mini profile.
Did that help?

yes, though I'm not planning to grade alot of persons Well, that's a shame...because when you exalt someone with an A, that's a really nice gesture. But its all up to you, of course!
