It's as safe as you want it to be. If you put your phone number and address on your profile then you're asking for someone to show up at your house or to call you. I personally only add people I know or I'll add someone I've become comfortable with through time on the internet, such as some of you. MySpace the company is perfectly safe (it started out independent and is now sponsored)..it's the people out there you have to worry about. If you don't want someone to know something about you then don't post it on your profile. When you sign up with MySpace that information doesn't go to the public either...and your real name is only used for the search engine (so your friends can find you). You can edit your profile at anytime. And if you don't want anyone to see your profile at all then you can make it private too. You have to put your age as 14 though lol And you can change it so that only your friends can view certain things such as your blog and who can post comments, etc.

But yeah, I love it. I keep in contact with my friends from high school and my old college. Like I said before, it's become a new messenger for me. I'm on it more than I am on AIM. lol

And Jeff, I added you. haha You're 25...and 6'7"? Are you really 6'7"? At 15?

Oh, and yeah they make the profile's private if you are under 16 I think, so if you make your age 16 it will show up.

yeah i dont beong with them either cuz like you said Jenn i was a little worried about giving out private info. and i dont want random people from like middle school finding me! lol i might try it though. i wanted to look around on facebook but it wont let me since my school isnt on their list.

That's surprising. When I signed up in July, like the only schools in Wisconsin were Uw-Madison, Uw-Milwaukee(My School), Uw-Whitewater, and Marquette. Then once the school year started they added like every private school in the state. The only exceptions are trade schools and techical colleges, otherwise it's kind of surprising your school's not on there.

its a community college so thats probably why but its really popular and well known where i live so it really should be on it. they have strange schools ive never even heard of on there.

In order for a school to be added someone from that school has to send them the information about the school. I know I sent it the information as well as some others, and it still took a little while to be added. It wasn't until this past May that my old college was added to the site.

I couldn't find the information of what you need to email them (majors, dorms, etc.)...maybe they just take requests without the information now, but that doesn't make sense, unless they're willing to do all the dirty work now. lol

yeah about the privacy, you have to be sixteen or older in order to have your profile view by everyone. if you are aged 13 to 15 youre profile is automatically set to private so no one can get personal information other than the people on your friends list.
