This is absolutely FALSE! Dennis Haskins responded to us about this rumor when it was written about back in December . He relayed the message that is HIGHLY UNLIKELY it will happen specifically to SBTB:NOW! PLease help and try to stop spreading this rumor! THANKS!

Yeah, it would have been amazing. But somehow I didn't think that Dustin would want to be in a movie with the rest of the cast. There is a movie in the works though, but I guess it's a remake. Sooooo not the same!

Yes, I agree with Gemma. Too bad everybody has conclusions before checking it. They all have Saved by the Bell at their schedule @ IMDB, so it must be true! IMDB doesn't tell lies.

in regards to the movie that is in the works. I think Mr. B may be getting a little ahead of himself. Just because Peter Engel isn't involved doesn't mean its a "reboot" or "remake". The only way a SBTB movie would be profitable is if the original cast would be involved. I personally believe a SBTB movie could work really well, and I can't see the cast turning down an opportunity to star in a major studio film. They would be insane if they did. I think a story about 6 thirtysomething year olds, who have all drifted a part and are not really happy with the way their lives turned out could work well. Also, the only announcement that has been made is that the movie rights have been sold to a group of producers... that is it. Who knows if they'll even do anything with it. There are a dozen or more TV show/movies that have been in the planning stages for years, and nothing has ever came to fruition. I'm not saying its going to happen with or without the original cast. I'm just saying I don't think we can dismiss it because Dennis says the cast won't do it. No disrespect to Dennis, but he doesn't know what's going to happen.

We are not saying it couldn't happen. However, taking into consideration how difficult it was for the cast to reunite on Jimmy Fallon, chances are a movie would probably not happen in the near future. They have their careers going and it seems like it got in the way of the JF reunion. It would have to work for all of them. I think that is where Dennis is coming from.
I think a remake would fail..... we enjoy the show mostly because of the uniqueness and love for the original cast! It would be cute.. but it won't satisfy me as a true, legit BELL fan.

There's no chance of a movie anytime soon. Erika already explained about the JF failed reunion, but another thing is that Mario had said that the People mag reunion came down to the wire. I couldn't watch a Bell movie without the original cast members.

I think all its going to take is a good script. If someone writes a good script I believe the rest will fall into place. I think one of the reasons the JF reunion didn't happen was because it was a stupid idea. They should reunite on their own terms. Not someone else's. I looked at that as some lame opportunity for JF to boost ratings. His show sucks, so he's always looking for something that could bring attention to his show. NBC haas been making millions off of SBTB for 20 years, and the cast hasn't received a dime. If/when they reunite they should have some control so they can reap benefits.

Yeah, I don't buy it either, after this nuts with the karate kid movie using the title from the original so all the generation x-ers would be interested and would take their kids to see it. Why else would they cast will smith's son and jackie chan, why else would they pair them together... BUt to cash in on a semi-sacred franchise (Yes, Macchio let him-self go a bit but he was pushin 30 at that point, and then The next karate kid, so the bird thing was weird but miyagi was in it at least and hilary swank did end up with an oscar so) anyway... jackie chan is no Pat Morita (Noriyuki)... (Chan was great in Rumble in the Bronx Though)... It just seems to me that since Sony pictures bought all of those fading production companies like Colombia Tristar, thus accruing the rights to movie names like The Karate Kid, but not the rights to the screenplays. So when Sony gets into a slump, like they were in a few years ago when all they were making and re-making was stupid horror movies, they can now just dip into the Colombia pot and re-tard a ton of great American movies for a new generation. (For example, House of Wax (1953) first American movie to be filmed and played in 3-D, only to be ruined 52 years later by a horrible remake with Paris Hilton)... And why did all this happen? So that Sony pictures Classics can compete with AOL Time Warner and MGM.
Warner Bros. is probably trying to cash in the same way on the SBTB franchise. Where instead of making films for the fans like they used to for summer breaks, like Hawaiin Style, Or The Special When Jesse's dad got married or even the Vegas Wedding, which wasn't great but it gave closure to a TV Show that if you ask me and I'm 27 was my generation's wonder years. I still watch every morning before work or if I'm up. But If they, The Karate Kid, this movie i don't think any true SBTB fans will go see it... I won't
