Mario Lopez to Join 'Extra' Family

Mario Lopez, who danced his way into the hearts and homes of millions of Americans each week on “Dancing with the Stars,” joins “Extra” as a co-host of the weekend edition and daily show correspondent.

“Mario is a rapidly rising star and a dynamic personality on and off camera,” said “Extra’s” Senior Executive Producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey. “I’ve had my eye on him for years, and I am thrilled to officially welcome him to the ‘Extra’ family.”

In addition to his stint on “Dancing with the Stars,” Lopez has been tapped to star in ABC Family’s original movie, “Holidays in Handcuffs,” he inked a talent holding deal with The CW and was also named the host of the 2007 Miss America Pageant.

Mario recently starred on two episodes of the popular series “Nip/Tuck” and was just cast to guest star on "George Lopez."

Tune in to “Extra” tomorrow, Friday, January 12, as Mario is welcomed to the “Extra” family. Lopez will make his official debut as part of “Extra’s” Golden Globes red carpet coverage on Tuesday, January 16.

I saw Mario's first official job on "Extra" working with Tanika Ray at the Golden Globes and he gets two thumbs up from me.

He struck me as being excited and ready to do the job. He had a good number of interviews, but they didn't show many of them. I didn't see that as a negative thing, I saw it as them easing him into this job. I almost think they want to be a little carefull with him when it comes to this part of the show because they know how good he is.

GREAT JOB MARIO!!!

I just watched the weekend edition "Extra" and have to say that Mario did an EXCELLENT job. He was sent congrats from many stars, but one really stood out.
Tiffani talked about how proud she is of him doing what he loves to do and said that he is a wonderful charismatic guy. She also said that her mom has loved him since Tiffani worked on him SBTB. She is so proud of him.

This, I thought, Was down right cruel for his fans. lol I was watching "Extra" today and they did their segment on rumour control. The rumour was that Mario was going to be walking down the isle soon. The rumour was YES! BUT, it's not what we think. He will be in best friend Eva Longoria's wedding and will be walking her mom down the isle.

Hey all, if you head over to the Extra web-site you get a chance to ask Mario a question! Go to the site, look to your right and scroll down. You'll see a box with Mario and Tanika Ray's heads. Just click on that and you can ask Mario a questio. If they answer yours, they will actually air the question and answer it on Extra! They just started doing this. This weeken is actually the first weekend they answered questions and mine was one of them!
