Hey SBTB Fans,

OK. I am here to inform everyone about the status between myself and LIONS GATE ENTERTAINMENT, about the DVD and about my site being the official fansite.

First of all, my apologizes goes to you all who visit the official fansite and notice that there hasn't been much information added to it since I first opened it about 2 months ago.

This is the deal....As you can tell, many sites already have the DVD up for pre-sale. But you may be asking to yourselves... "Why hasn't LIONS GATE added the option to their site? Aren't these the main guys who produce the DVD?"

Well, I am asking myself the same question.

Please do not think I have not been doing my part to get information. I have been e-mailing them for quite some time now and it seems as though they are either ignoring my e-mails, they haven't been read, or they have yet to reply to them. The last time I spoke to LIONS GATE was about a month ago with many questions and their reply was "I will have the answers shortly". Well, it has been over a month! Also, they promised me many cool features and graphics since the very beginning of our communication and as you can see, they haven't sent a single thing! (i.e. video clips, cover art.) The cover arts I have on the site were obtained on my own search through other sites.

I am in a really tough situation. First, I agreed to be the "official dvd fansite for LIONS GATE". Which means, I don't really have the right to be posting information about other sites who have the option to pre-order the DVD. (Or at least, it is not very courteous) The main reason my site was asked to be the official fansite was to promote the DVD and for the fans to head to LIONS GATE's official site to pre-order it. By posting links to other sites, I am jeopardizing their business and I do not want to do that, since they were kindly enough to even ask me to do such an honor.

However.... Secondly, I have this obligation to you guys, the FANS, to help you out in learning all about the best deals etc. I made my site in order to keep SBTB fans alive in some way, and I really try my best to keep everyone updated about everything SBTB! So, I don't want to back out on the foundation for the site and I really want to inform you guys about all the places to buy the DVD. We have wanted this for too long and I don't want to back out now and something so important like this. So, I wanted to write this letter to you all, so that you don't think otherwise.

I am still debating on what to do. So please bare with me.

Let me know what ya'll think. I am open for any kind of suggestions.

I hope this letter clears up any questions you may have. I am really sorry, again.

I did`nt even know saved by the bell was going to be on dvd till i read your site. It gives all the info I nees so im happy with it.

Hey Erika, I think you're doing a great job.

But I think you should totally let people know about the pre-order availability from other sites. The more people who order this, the better for US as Saved By The Bell fans and THEM (Lions Gate), as sales from any place are going to bringing them in money. Not as much as from their own website, but a sale is a sale, and they'll be profiting either way.

It's foolish for them to ask you to be the official website and then not keep you up-to-date.

You should set up affiliateships with some of the e-tailers (if you haven't already) and put up links to a bunch of them with prices. You certainly deserve a little kickback for your efforts, and Lions Gate doesn't really deserve the free publicity you're giving them if they're going to be rude and not even answer your e-mails!

Anyway, keep up the great work! Let's hope that Volume 1 is one of the fall's top sellers, and that maybe Seasons 3 and 4 will be out by Christmas. (Wishful thinking, probably, but I have no doubt these sets will be tres profitable.)

Thanks for the message. I was wondering why no new information had been added to your DVD site in such a long time.

We're closing in on a month until the thing comes out and they haven't given you any information. With many DVD releases of this nature, we are given a full list of specs, disc art and extra features sometimes several months in advance. So to be the "official" site for this release and to have been left in the dark, just plain sucks. And feel your pain, as I imagine being asked to be the official site for the DVD was one of the neater things that's ever happened to you.

Your situation has prompted me to send a message to Lions Gate expressing my outrage. And I urge others reading this to join me in flooding their account with similar messages.

Just remember: Be courteous while expressing your outrage. Proper English and spelling never hurt anyone either.

Here's a copy and paste of the e-mail I sent to Lions Gate that you may use as an example...

To whom it may concern:

I am an avid fan of the TV series Saved by the Bell and an even more avid purchaser of TV-related DVDs. Several times each and every day since www.savedbythebellnow.com was announced as the official site for the Saved by the Bell DVD set, I have been visiting to see if information on the DVD box set has been updated.

Today I happened upon the DVD Message board at the aformentioned website and found a discouraging message from the Webmaster, Erika. Apparently, she has not been dignified with a response (let alone any new information regarding the DVD release, now closing in on one month away) despite repeated efforts to contact Lions Gate. This doesn't just bother her; it irritates the legions of fans who have grown accustomed to receiving information for DVD releases months in advance. It is common courtesy and part of the thrill of contemplating the purchase of DVD releases.

And as a matter of purchasing, Saved by the Bell is far from the only big television title hitting shelves on September 2nd, as I'm sure your people in marketing have noted. This is just one more reason why it would have been at Lion's Gate's advantage to have at least begun taking pre-orders months ago at either yours or Erika's websites. It's a tad late at this stage in the game, as I'm sure the fans most eager to pre-order have already gotten their fill from one of the several e-tailers who have made this title available.

I highly doubt I'm speaking only for myself when I say this all leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I hope this matter is corrected in a timely and efficient manner.

WOW! Take charge kinda person I see. Thats awesome! Someone needs to take a stand. Lions Gate isn`t taking the upcoming release of Saved BY The Bell seriously enough. I bet they will when they see the sets fly off the shelves. Too little too late though. They`re missing out on the oppertunity to make some major profit from this dvd. Thier marketing department sucks. I mean even I learned in marketing class to promote a product by all means possible. Give the fans what they want!! I`ll post a message myself too. Other SBTB fans should write to them. It not just unfair to Erika but to us as well and thats just wrong.
