Guys, good news! I forwarded our letter to Dennis' brother....who forwarded it to Dennis...who has forwarded it to Elizabeth. She could fight this. Not only is she not on the dvd cover, but her body has been falsely edited! Leanna Creel would probably find this extremely upsetting, as well. Who knows...maybe if they complain, this can be fixed! Now THIS is some good news. But hopefully like you said the cover is a fake, but I actually think its real. I know that we should be happy that we're atleast getting the DVD's but up here in Canada its 65$ for a SBTB DVD(sure the CDN dollar is devalued but still). I just went to xe.com. Its a site where you can convert any type of money to any type of currency. Anyways, 65.00 CAD 52.6798 USD Canadian Dollars American Dollars And thats WITHOUT our 15% tax. I'll end up buying the DVD but 65$ for a DVD with NO Extra's and we waited over a year for is just ridiculous. ARE YOU SERIOUS? Jesus Christ! Im guessing the DVD's are better then the SBTB DVD's(Extra's wise). And I agree with you. Why the hell did they take so long if there are no Extra's?!

Okay Guys...
I`ve been away for a while and I must say this is all very shocking to me! Katie and Nem have been catching me up on all of this and I have to say I would rather have my vhs recorded tapes with commercials than a crap shoot dvd for over 20 bucks. I really would and I`m not grateful in the least bit. I`m mad. We should not let SBTB get trashed like this. We let it slide the first time but we need to do something and I`m not sure what but something cause this is BS ya`ll.

I'm really to Pi$$ed off to say much about the cover. The words I would like to use are curse worse, so I'd better just not say anything about the cover until I colm down. I read Nem's post, and I too am from Canada. I can't believe the amount of money I'm gonna have to pay for this box set. The fact that there's no extra pi$$es me off even more! I have box sets of other TV shows and I only paid about $10.00 or so more for those box sets. They obviously were not done by Lions Gate. The covers are just amazing, and there is so many extra's on these other box sets, I would watch it and think "I got all this and it only cost me this much money". Believe they were worth way more then that. As for you Erika, WAY TO GO!!!! Once again sticking up for the SBTB fans! I read what you wrote and I just thought it was great! Thanks again for sticking up for us. Once I can think of other words to use other then curse words to describe the cover, and give my opinion on Lions Gate, I'll do another post.

I totally agree. I think what is lost on a lot of people is that this is a fairly common practice. In the 80's Tv Guide put Oprah's head on Ann Margaret's body. In the 60's and 70's Black musicians didn't appear on their own records and instead were replaced with white teenagers so the records could be sold in suburbs. Many magazine shoots are completely changed. This is nothing new. Whoever holds the license and rights to photos can pretty much do whatever they want to them. The simple fact of the matter is no matter what the design is there is no way that everyone is going to be satisfied. That's life. That's why Baskin Robbins makes 31 different flavors. Tim Well, I suppose I'll finally chime in on this. Coming from a fan since the birth of this show, then waiting years on end with baited breath for the DVD release, then ONLY to realize that the actual quality of the DVD's (cover AND picture quality) just make your heart sink. I'm not questioning anyone's loyalty to the show, but it seems to me that if you have a true deep love for this show as I do, poor picture quality, clumsy episode title mistakes, butched covers are just things THAT REALLY MATTER. It's easy to lie back and say "Well, at least it's on DVD". That just doesn't cut it. This show means A LOT to thousands and thousands of people. They've looked forward to its release. THEY ARE PAYING GOOD MONEY for the product. Cheap, slipshod efforts on an individual's favorite childhood show really hurt! It's easy for LG to put out a quick cheap cover, as the show doesn't mean anything to them. Calling this a "common practice" as quoted above, does not make it ok. When it all comes down to it, when you wait for something for so long, and then get let down, it doesn't feel good. The true fans feel this in the pit of their stomach. By the way, is it concrete that there are no extras?

That's saying it how it is, Zach!!!
There COULD be extras -- let's not jump to conclusions -- but, given past history, let's not expect them.

By the way, is it concrete that there are no extras? I am not trying to be a jerk and I do apologize if I am coming off this way, but does anyone notice that about 20 or so people have chimed in about this subject and for the most part, this group of people feel that since they don't like the cover other people will not like the oover or even care. I know myself and Cindy couldn't care less for the most part about the cover. To me it's like saying you aren't going to buy or like your favorite band's CD because you don't like the artwork. Again I feel the need to say that no matter what the cover looked like you aren't going to please everyone. It's impossible. For example I think the College Years artwork is horrible, but that doesn't affect my enjoyment of the dvd viewing. I also think that the region 2 dvd's look like something that was thrown together the day before the set was released. I am sure there are people who love the artwork on those sets too Yeah spelling errors happen and they suck and if Lion's Gate was the only company in the world that made them then yeah I would totally think less of them as a company, but that is not the case. Heck watch "headlines" on the Tonight Show you will find other companies who do the same thing. Keep in mind as for mistakes like Dustin being listed on a commentary track that he isn't on, it's common place to have the artwork done up before you are done first. So it is possible that he was supposed to do the track, but something came up. Destroying all those pre made cases would not be an option for any company. An example of what I am talking about is on www.weezer.com . You can pretty much see most of the art work for the new Weezer cd, which will not even be pressed until next week. Again, I don't know why Lion's Gate gets blamed for the video quality since all they have done is license the prints that are owned by NBC so if you have any problems with the quality of the prints it's not Lion's Gate fault. It's not even NBC's fault since no one there knew that the masters would ever be used for mass video release. Tim

By the way, is it concrete that there are no extras? Zach, you said it perfectly!!!! My goodness, I cried after seeing the cover....it made me soooo ANGRY! It really effected me. I treasure this show so much and the unprofessionalism on their behalf is unacceptable. The constant mistakes have made me feel this way. I got over the imperfections from the first and second release. But this next one tops the cake. I am not over any of the mistakes now..it's built up and we need to do something about this. I guess there are die hard fans that care about these things. And there are big fans who could care less. They just appreciate them even being on DVD. We have different perceptions of what should mean more. And that's OK. I guess you might think the die hards are over-reacting. But, like I said before...we have every right to complain and stick up for our show. And I will fight to the end. And even if nothing gets changed, I can say I tried...I'd rather take advantage of the oppurtunity than sit back and just feel extremely angry towards it forever.

I stayed out of this discussion, but just a suggestion: Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper for you to order the dvds on internet in the usa ? Amazon.com, playusa.com those sites. I would usually agree with Tim, the cover is less important than the dvd. But this is just a little bit too much, I wouldn't mind if it was a horrible cover, even if it had just 'Saved by the Bell' on front without pictures (Wouldn't be nice, but it's not important). I do mind they started photoshopping with pictures. It's just wrong. If you have no good pictures, leave them away. (Or use a very good screencap) Of course the lack of extra's is horrible, it's not that hard to create some extra's. Interviews etc. They might even have old material they could use, old interviews from back then.

But hopefully like you said the cover is a fake, I hope and think it is, but they did say they were working on the extra's; why would they just give up all that?

So now we are being judged on what kind of fans we are? Listen, I am a good ten years older than most of you. I was watching SBTB before some of you were born. Don't sit there and assume that I am not as much of a fan as some of you are. This is not about me, anyway. Seems that the valid points of this discussion keep getting overlooked, and more people are just following the herd and complaining.
The DVD quality has nothing to do with Lions Gate. Why not point some of the blame on NBC? And furthermore, Lions Gate most likely had to use the syndicated prints because it looks better than the original, and...wait, I better stop, I'll just be ignored. Whatever.
A stupid coverart is not going to stop me from buying season 5. I care about the show too much to let it slip away from me over some cheap boxart.

Compare any of them to high quality studios such as Touchstone (disney). If you have nice equipment (nice TV, S-video) you will definitely notice a difference. LG DVD transferring is not up to par. Even on their own movies like "Frailty".

Cindy: The bad transfer to DVD has EVERYTHING to do with Lions Gate!! Notice the weird lagging and strange bits here and there? That has nothing to do with the original prints. It's the transfer to DVD format. ALL LG DVDs are not the best quality. And I am with you; I will buy Season 5 regardless.

I don't understand how any fan isn't bothered by the fact that Elizabeth is not on the cover and her body was brutally altered with Leanna's face. I think all fans do not feel comfortable about it. I don't think anyone here is following the "herd" and complaining. This isn't right and it's clear to see.
And yes, it's not going to stop me from buying them either. But like I said before, as fans we have an obligation to try to make this right. I am sure the cast members would appreciate it. I don't know if it's just my hopeful side, but I will try to make this right and we can make a difference. This is something that can be fixed. Why not make the effort, right?
