This was such a well written show that gave the audience a lot more than just Zack scheming all the time. I laughed more watching the College Years than I ever did the 84 episodes of Saved by the Bell. So, why was this show cancelled so soon? Did the loyal SBTB fans not like it at the time? I doubt that since most reviews I've read from fans indicate that it was well loved. So, what kept this from from succeeding but crap like Sabrina the Teenage Witch alive?

I just think it couldn't survive in NBC's primetime lineup, there was too much competition. Had it aired saturday mornings it definately would of lasted longer

I didn't really like the College Years and this is why it didn't survive:
Different enviroment (What happened to my cheesy looking Bayside?) Different characters (No way.) Missing characters (Double no way.) Somewhat serious storylines (Kelly and Professor Lasky? What the hell?) Different dynamic Different time slot competing with similar (and IMO, better) shows.
OK, SBTB was cool for Saturday morning, but no way would I just pick up the remote and watch that show if I had no history with it now. That's the way TCY was. It either needed to be 90210 or SBTB. How many comedic shows about people in college are there? Yeah, that's what I thought. It just doesn't work. And that's pretty much with all shows: once you start in high school, the show doesn't translate well into college.

And that's pretty much with all shows: once you start in high school, the show doesn't translate well into college. That's a shame 'cause I liked the maturity that TCY brought to the otherwise innocent SBTB world. Not to mention that I had grown up with these characters and I found the transition to college refreshing. Although, in all honesty, they could have continued doing episodes from highschool to this day and I'd still be watching.

I wish this show move on! Maybe the will have
SBTB: The Master Years (This time they are getting their Master Degree.)
SBTB: The Ph.D Years (This time they are getting their Ph.Ds)
SBTB: Grown Up Years (After getting their degrees, it's time to have family. This deal with being a parent or single adult)
SBTB: The Reunion Movie. (This time they get together like Romy and Michelle High School Reunion.
SBTB: The Senior Years. (They are now, eligible for senior discounts. This show deals being a senior. Like Golden Girls.)
So many stuffs to do.

I'm not a big fan of the college years. I think that SBTB should have ended with the high school graduation.

I'm not a big fan of the college years. I think that SBTB should have ended with the high school graduation. Wow. This surprises me. No Wedding then?!!! Personally, when I found out that I was still going to be able to watch Zack and the gang in a new series...I WAS THRILLED! I remember waiting to see them in TCY...I was so excited. I wouldn't have liked it any other way. I agree with Nick. It couldn't compete with the prime time lineup. On Saturday mornings, they were #1. Meanwhile competing against cartoons.

That's a shame 'cause I liked the maturity that TCY brought to the otherwise innocent SBTB world. The innocence is what made it so charming. Like I said, there were too many different things that made it so different from the original Bell, but they still used the name. Nope. Plus, the show ended and then they're like, "Psych. We'll bring some people back." I'm not trying to invalidate anyone's love of TCY, I'm just telling you why it didn't work. It was way more than a different time slot.

It just seemed like the only way they could end the long run series. The only parts that I did enjoy about the wedding were the flashbacks to the high school years. I was never a fan of GMMB, the Malibu Sands episods, or TCY, also. My favorite SBTB episodes were in the later high school years (seasons 3, 4, 5...). Hope my opinions don't upset anyone!

I thought the Wedding movie was weird. But it was the weekend of the week of my 13th birthday so I invited a friend over for a sleepover and we watched and taped it.

I like Wedding Movie! In Family Matters, I read they want to end the show by Laura and Steve getting married. It got cancelled before it happen.

I thought the College Years were good.
Interesting storylines and often funny. It got a bit silly though when they had Thanksgiving and Six from Blossom turned up but generally it was okay.
