I think I tried to enjoy this show because it had the same set and a few of the principle characters, but in the end, it was like trying to replace Oreos with Hydrox.

They change the cast too many times, plus i don't enjoy screech on any tv program.

I think I would have been around 10, or actually a few years younger than that when the New Class premiered. I watched it for the first few seasons and really liked it. I was really into the whole TNBC thing during that time. I'll probably buy the dvds eventually, but right now I only care about the original SBTB on dvd.

I never got the change to see an episode, but i would love to see an episode. That's why I wanna see TNC... >>Why was it not very good? XxX They just re-used a lot of storylines, which is ok...but they've already been used. Most of the viewers were also viewers of the original and I'm sure not everybody, including myself, didn't want to see those same storylines again with completely different people. I think I may have only watched the first few episodes of the new class and I gave up on it. I will say though (and forgive me for replying to an old post) but most Peter Engel shows reused the same storylines.

I honestly never gave the New class a chance. I just always thought that the show would never compare to the original.

i really hated the one with the redhead girl having a drink - she has 1 lousy drink, every 1 hates her, she says sorry, and that she'll never drink again - lame lame lame

Why were the hallways/Stairs reversed in TNC later seasons?

I much preferred this one to the original myself. I thought Screech and Mr. Belding made a great comic duo, much better than Mr. Belding and Zack ever did. Granted, the way Screech came back was not realistic, but I am still very glad he came back. Also, Screech's high voice was over the top and very unneccessary but he was still funny. It was nice to see him in respectable clothing, in contrast to the trash he was forced to wear in the original. I also very much enjoyed watching Screech finally receive respect. He was able to secure serious girlfriends that weren't blatant "nerdy" characters. His girlfriend Allison even chose him over "the more attractive" Brian, a plot that would have been nice to see in the original series. It was clear that the students in the New Class liked him (although they didn't always want him hanging around), unlike the seemingly endless putdowns from 4 of his 5 "friends" from the original series, particularly Lisa and Jesse. Even best friend Zack could be amazingly cruel at times. Many of the girls were attractive (all better looking that Jessie and probably Lisa too for that matter). Particularly notable are Lindsay, Rachel, Katie, and Meghan. Bobby, RJ, and Tommy D. could be extremely funny, but all the kids were at least decent. I began watching reruns of the first 3 seasons recently, and the show only seems to be getting better. This is one of the very few shows that can do both comedy and drama well. The "very special episodes" on this were much better than the original. In the original you had an episode where Jessie overdoses on caffeine pills, how common is that? You also had one where Zack (and his friends) fear for his life when he needs minor knee surgery? Huh? Granted there were some that were a bit more serious, such as Jessie's ancestors the slave owners, Saying no to drugs (with a very odd twist), and one about drunk driving, but none of those were well acted. I could have stood knowing more about the characters in the New Class through less cast changes, but most people don't have the exact same friends throughout school anyway, so in that sense this show is actually a bit more realistic (not to say it was realistic, however). The New Class episodes about Lindsay getting anexoria and Rachel being abused by a college guy she dates were far more believable and very well acted. This show was squeaky clean for it's time and I enjoyed watching it very much. Although I am 23 and have come to enjoy (some) adult humor, I will always have some (probably more) interest in clean-cut television of this mold.

I loved the New Class--technically, I like the last three seasons. I tried watching the first couple of seasons, but I felt like they were trying too hard to make it exactly like the original show with the same storylines and similar characters. I think if the show broke out on its own and did things differently, it would've caught on more.
I totally loved the last cast. They were a lot different from the first season, and the storylines improved to common situations students faced today.
