Mr. Belding in the New Class

Has anyone noticed that Mr. Belding morphed into an idiot in the New Class episodes? He was kind of goofy in the original series, but he became a baffoon in the New Class.

In the second season he is working at a country club with Screech and the rest of the gang. The funny thing is that it's just a summer job kind of like a regular high school kid would have, but he's in his mid-40s at the time. And everyone else bosses Belding around at the country club.

The new class is pretty much a perpetuation of Belding and Screech becoming more and more buffoonish each year. Screech is not in the initial year of the New Class, but comes back to be Belding assistant in the 2nd year. He is a bit of a clown and one wonders why he and Belding have childish summer jobs at the country club. By the fifth year Belding and Screech are working at the mall. Screech is a rent a cop and spends his time hunched over doing a ridiculous falsetto voice and contorting his face terribly. The writers really turned Belding and Screech into cannon fodder in the New Class. Seriously, watch it, the kids act somewhat normal, and if you compare them to Mr. Belding and Screech they are genius material!

I disagree. I think Mr. Belding was more of a buffoon in the original series. He was given more respect in the New Class as was Screech. Granted Screech would still do stupid stuff, but he was nothing like the idiot he had become by the last season of the original series.

I agree, especially in the latter couple of seasons of TNC. I mean really..they spent more time at the mall (seemingly) than they did at Bayside, and Screech isnt what I would imagine an administrative assistant to be. They sorta become somewhat childish to an extent and Im guessing it was a bit of a turnoff. I still enjoyed the episodes though.

i must admit screech is beyond outlandish in seasons 4-7 of the new class. i mean he becomes extremely zany.
