Is it because he was too much like Screech? Here's a picture of him:

He vaguely resembled Screech in that they had similar hairdos, but Weasel was surprisingly less funny. I also remember Weasel being about a foot shorter than Screech.

It isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Yeah, the characters are being compared to the originals, but it is NICE to see new people and REFRESHED story lines.

Oh my opinion has the original set aside...I just can't stand half the characters in season 1. I can handle them afterwards. Maybe the end of season 1 will get better, but I find myself forcing myself to watch season 1...and it has nothing to do with the characters being carbon copies. I love that the show continued for a new generation, the characters just could've been better. lol

Yeah, the first failed because it was just too close to the original cast. They couldn't recapture the same magic, even though I don't think the first season, or the New Class in general, is near as bad as people want to say it is (not necessarily true in this forum, but in others).

The retooling with a similar group and a similar storyline but with different personalities for the characters is what allowed the show to last as long as it did.

I did watch a small piece of the new class(I believe it was season 1). I watched it, because I missed the "old" class(they didn't show that anymore).
I just didn't like it at all! It probably has nothing to do with the acting of the characters.But like some of you already said, Weasel is like Screech, Scott like Zack.And then I start to compare them and they could never been better dan the "originals".It's just the same when I watch a soap,when a character is played by an other person, i just don't like that character anymore
