This is a neat idea!
This episode is not bad, but Slater does come off as sort of a jerk! Plus, none of us were familiar with him yet at the time; I suppose we didn't even know if he would become a permanent character, afterall, we lost a couple after Miss Bliss.
I'd say 3/5 for this one!

I liked this episode as it gave significants to the beginning of an era. Slater did come off a bit rude but, that's what gave him his staple for the character that he would play. Now if I'm correct (and I'm sure someone can answer this for me) but, didn't this episode start out with Zack waking up and the life size poster of Kelly dropping down? Was this cut from the episode for the DVD? I give this Ep......5/5 ;D

yes thats from this episode! i wondered if tiffani felt odd about them having that poster of her on the set! LOL i wonder what they did with it at the end of the series.  |

It wasn't cut on the DVD, I don't think....? I love the restored scenes on the DVD releases.

It's on the DVD.  I thought that was pretty over the top, that's why I didn't give this episode a 5/5. |

man i hated Slater when he first came. I though he was a punk trying to steal all of Zack's heat. I eventually began to love A.C Slater  i didnt like when him and zack were always fighting and hated each other they make better friends then enemies. |

I was always rooting for Zack to win Kelly so I didnt really like Slater much at the start, but I did enjoy them fighting for her all the time because I knew who she'd choose eventually

Dancing to the Max was the first episode aired. But this was actually the first episode written and produced -- which is why the episode begins with an awkward, wedged-in voice-over ("I'll never forget the day Slater showed up."

That, for me, is such an iconic moment. It tells you everything you need to know about Zack's personality in one grand gesture. What I wouldn't give to have that poster! Or the life-size cardboard cutout for that matter.

ok thanks for cleaing this up so when i get season 1,2 i will start with king of the hill.i got seasons 1,2 about 2 years ago need to get seasons 1,2, and 5 if there was a season 5 and colleges years and also the 2 movies than im set for saved by the bell old school then gonna have to get newschool saved by the bell the new class.

In Slater's defence, up until going to Bayside he was in the military and and changed schools constantly. I think he was the way he was because he didn't see much point in making new friends just to have to leave them again.
The way he flirted with Kelly, look at her and remember he's a teenage boy. lol

I started watching SBTB again. I just got done watching Beverly Hills 90210 Season 5 (my fav season and TATs first season) thru 10 with my grilfriend. I watched 6 years worth in 6 months. Now I'm going to watch SBTB Season 1 thru College years. I don't consider SBTB TNC a real show. KING OF THE HILLZack gave a great performance. Kelly's acting wasn't very good here. She didn't find her character yet. Screech and Liza weren't major in this episode. Yet Screech had some really good moments. Slater gave a great performance even though he didn't find his character at that point either. Mr. Belding was great. I think the story was good. It was all about Zack and Kelly with Slater being the speed bump. I rate it a 4.5 out of 5 |
