I was leaning towards it either having something to do with the cast's schedules conflicting or Dustin Diamond. My gut is telling me it is either one of those reasons.

I say that it was likely scheduling conflicts that the cast members had.

I'd say a host of "conflicts" occured -- scheduling, creative demands, $$$ demands.
For instance, I can imagine MPG, Mario, Lark, and Dennis saying "I'm up for anything." I can imagine Tiffani and Elizabeth saying, "I'll do it as long as I won't have to ____ [e.g. dress up in character]." I can imagine Dustin saying "I'll do anything...for the right price." And I can imagine the writers finally finding something everyone's okay with...and then finding out that one or more of the actors now has a scheduling conflict.

i really do feel like it was dustin. he's basking in the glow of his book and doesn't want to have to explain all of his lies to his former cast mates.

I really think it mainly had to do with dustin and his book. It was probably hard to figure out how to do it and not leave dustin out but the rest of the cast wouldnt want to have to deal with him, especially after his book came out slamming all of them. They probably couldnt figure out how to do it and not make some people mad and it was just too much to deal with. I think the actors busy schedule's also didnt help. mainly though I think it was a dusin issue. why why did they have to cancel it? why not just wait and see for a while. I dont see why the decided to scrap it at this point.

While i again must say im not suprised i do however believe that the SBTB fans are owed an explanation by Jimmy Fallon!!After all it was all of us who took the time to sign HIS PETITION!!!

I think the a big part of the reason has to do with scheduling conflicts. We know that MPG, Mario and Tiffani are very because. It took a year to arrange for the People mag shoot and even Mario says it came down to the wire.
I do think Dustin had something to do with it for many reasons. Dustin has no interest in the SBTB fans. Since his book came out maybe he doesn't have the guts to be in the same room with his former castmates.

I Was told that a reason why is because of Tiffani that she backed out of her LTWJF Appearence last week in all liklihood becuase of that so prolly Fallon was like alright well Tiffani and Diamond said no so its Obv not gonna work!

Although Diamond seems to have gone of the rails, and probably couldn't face his former colleagues, I actually doubt he's the reason the reunion didn't take place. Why? Because I honestly thing the reunion could have gone ahead successfully without him. I remember the happy days reunion worked really well - even with a missing key cast member.
I think the main reason was probably the actors were just too busy with other projects. SBTB was a long time ago. We still love it, but perhaps it's no longer important to some of the former cast members.
Ultimately, we just don't have enough info to know what really happened - the only people who know are those directly involved. I agree with kklover - I think we are owed some kind of explanation - from someone. I think Fallon should come clean. It would also be worth asking someone like Dennis Haskins - he's pretty approachable. on the other hand he might not know why it didn't work either.

Yes, I think Haskins would be a good starting point. Didn't he hatch this whole thing with Fallon, on Fallon's show? I seem to remember the original news was a Haskins/Fallon thing. As I mentioned though he might be just as in the dark as to the reasons as the rest of us, but if anyone knows the real reason it's a good bet either Fallon or Haskins does. Anyway, the whole thing is a big disappointment, and a lost opportunity. I think as time goes by a reunion is even less likely.  I am not given up hope though - I'm still holding out for a one-off special show "Saved by the Bell: Bayside Reunion". I think college reunions are popular in USA, so it's not inconceivable. That would be very cool.  |
