TBS has tapped Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar as the leads in its hourlong comedy pilot "Franklin & Bash," lifting the contingency off the project.
The cable network also has cast another hourlong pilot, "Glory Daze," with Tim Meadows and Kelly Blatz. They lead a largely young, ensemble cast that includes Julianna Guill, Callard Harris, Matt Bush, Hartley Sawyer and Drew Seeley.
"Bash," from Sony TV, writers Kevin Falls and Bill Chais and producer Jamie Tarses, revolves around Jared Franklin (Meyer) and Steven Bash (Gosselaar), two street lawyers and lifelong friends who, after taking down a white-shoe law firm in a high-profile case, are recruited by the firm's patriarch. Bash has an uncanny ability to connect with a jury and judge, and Franklin is bent on sticking it to the Man.
"Robot Chicken" regular Meyer is repped by Gersh and the Collective.
Gosselaar most recently starred on the legal drama "Raising the Bar," which ran on TBS sister network TNT.
Set at a Wisconsin college in 1985, "Daze" centers on Joel (Blatz), a socially inexperienced freshman who joins the wildest fraternity on campus. Guill will play the girl every freshman guy, including Joel, wants to date.
Joel's frat brothers are Mike (Harris), the bright light of the frat house, charismatic and willing to bend the rules; Eli (Bush), whose personality and sense of humor make up for his average looks; Brian (Sawyer), a California boy and star athlete; and Jason (Seeley), an aspiring politician.
Meadows will play their professor with liberal ideas and a radical spirit.
"SNL" alum Meadows, repped by APA and Brillstein, next appears in the feature "Grownups." Seeley ("Another Cinderella Story") is repped by TalentWorks. Harris ("Sons of Anarchy") is repped by UTA and Flutie.
"Bash" and "Daze" are two of TBS' four hourlong comedy projects it handed cast-contingent pilot orders this year.
The other two are "Uncle Nigel," whose contingency was lifted by the lead casting of Gary Cole, and "Security," which is casting.
