There were many things wrong with the name "Saved by the Bell: The College Years" First off, it was way too long. It also ties a primetime young adult sitcom to a Saturday morning tween sitcom. Half the cast is different from the original show, so why didn't they just give it a new name? It was a true spinoff show.
An analogous show would be "A Different World". That was a college show and was a spinoff of a popular sitcom. It had a few Cosby characters, but introduced Sinbad's Coach Oakes, Dwayne Wayne, and other new characters. It ran six years and formed its own identity outside of the Cosby Show. I don't think that it would have the same success if it was called "The Cosby Show: The College Years". I mean people already had the superior Cosby Show, why a specialized version of it with half the original cast? The same could be said for Saved by the Bell, which was running in syndication 10 episodes a day in the early 90s, over multiple channels.
Taking the line from the show's theme, it could be called "Edge of Tomorrow". The name is kind of catchy and sums up the theme of the show. They are making pivotal decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. Saved by the Bell was more about the relatively carefree times where your biggest concern was detention or the teacher giving you a bad grade.
