Whatever! As If! 'Showgirls' Sex Scene Named Cinema's Worst Fri, Sep 30, 2005, 12:09 PM PT www.zap2it.com/movies/news/story/0,1259,---26909,00.html LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com)- England's Empire magazine has crowned Elizabeth Berkley's "Showgirls" tryst with Kyle MacLachlan as the worst sex scene in cinematic history. In the famous scene, Berkley's Nomi Malone and MacLachlan's Zack Carey flop around in a garish Vegas swimming pool, thrusting and flailing and splashing up a storm. "It's supposed to be the best sex in the world but, as Berkley thrashes around in the water, it looks more like the first ten minutes of 'Jaws,'" Empire says. Second place in the poll goes to the escalatingly violent encounter between Oscar winners Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche in "Damage," while Heather Graham and Joseph Fiennes take third with a scene from 2002's "Killing Me Softley." It's unclear how those two moments could have been worse than the forth place ugly bump in "Body of Evidence," which expects viewers to get turned on by Madonna pouring hot wax on Willem Dafoe. Kathleen Turner's "Crimes of Passion" sex romps get fifth, somehow worse than Sharon Stone doing Sylvester Stallone in the shower in "The Specialist." The staff at Empire scientifically compiled the list after going through a vast selection of cinematic humping. The complete list appears in the magazine's issue which will be available on Friday (Sept. 30) in the U.K. and eventually at fine booksellers worldwide.

it's time for people to stop talking about SHOWGIRLS after 10 years from its release. What's the problem with the film? And funny, in the article the mentioned Elizabeth and Kyle and not Paul Verhoeven, who is the one who aked the actors to do what they did in the way they did. And Ezterhas? He created that scene. People has a serious problem with this movie. Deal with it and stop mentioning this film (i'm not talking about you sbtb411, don't worry!)

That's ok Fran. I just posted this news, so that everyone should know about it. Your right, they need to stop thinking bashing this movie. Its over with, but it looks like this is the critics favourite to criticize. Sad, so sad. Everytime, I see news about Elizabeth, I always see some news about Showgirls.

Agree, the whole "showgirls" bashing theme is getting old, but it is one of the worst movies ever made in this country though. and because of that it will never be laid to rest. now, aside from all the nudity i actually liked the movie, but that love scene was just terrible and well, strange. that magazine hit it right on the money with the worst sex scene.

I liked Showgirls. I didn't even realize that there was dialogue though until about a year ago.

Maybe the Showgirls banter is passé in the U.S. but it's not in the country where the article was written. Sometimes a thing is so bad it deserves to just never hear the end of it. I love Showgirls, its one of the best laughs ever, but in retrospect a bad move for Elizabeth! I'm so glad she did it!

I don't think anyone will ever live showgirls down, when it comes to Elizabeth Berkely. Especially going from teen sensation to that. But hey everyone makes mistakes. We're all human, right?

Craig and Stan, you two are hilarious! I disagree that Showgirls is the worst in any way. It definetly wasn't the best, but it was done by the same person that did Basic Instinct, which shot Sharon Stone to stardom. It's been 10 years since the release of the movie and I for one am no longer going to talk about it anymore. In Elizabeth's entire career, this looks like the worst thing she ever did. She has done many other excelent projects since this movie and gets alt of support from many actors from hollywood. Goldie Hawn is the one that helped get her the role in the First Wives Club and Faye Dunaway helped Elizabeth a great deal to get through the horrible criticism she went through. Elizabeth is a wonderful actress.
Showgirls was not the worst movie ever made.
