Dustin is doing his stand-up act in Saint Louis over the weekend. I thought about going up until I found out that tickets were 25.00. To my that is way too much money. The fact of the matter is when Mitch Hedberg and Stephen Lynch came to town, it wasn't 25.00 and that was for the both of them. I don't know maybe I am being crazy. I would pay 10-15.

I would. I haven't seen any of his stand-up comedy acts so I'd pay the $25. See how it goes and if I don't like his brand of comedy I just won't go see it again.

I have read a few reviews of his act that allude to the long standing rumor that he "borrows" a lot his act from a lot of other comedians. I think that is part of my hesistantion of dropping the cash for him.

Don't believe everything you read. But if you don't want to go, I say don't.

Don't believe everything you read. But if you don't want to go, I say don't. The show was a couple days ago. I didn't go, but I did have some friends who went and one of them who is a comic kind sided with the reviews. As for not trusitng everthing I read, If one reviewer/or comic mentioned joke theft then it's one thing if many of those groups mention it, there probably is some truth to it.

Oh okay. I don't know that much about stand-up comedy. So it wasn't just like a typical review. The review was written by people that have heard the jokes before? Would you mind explaining the "borrow" thing to me? Because if he comes to where I live I'm not got to drop the money to see him if he's doing things he's not supposed to be doing.

Well, I said "borrow" instead of Stealing b/c I really didn't want to deal with a lot of posts saying what a horrible person I was. Basically in comedy joke stealing is one of the worse things you can do. There are some people who are very vocal about how much they hate people who do it (Joe Rogan, Billy Crystal, Don Rickles come to mind) It's just a big no-no. It's kind of the same way the Brotherhood of Magicians are not fans of Penn & Teller because they explain how their magic tricks work

Does he borrow the majority of his jokes? Do you know if any of his own material is any good?

Thanks for explaining that. If he ever comes to my town I guess I'll give it some serious thought as to whether I go see him or not. What I don't understand is that he said he's been wanting to be a stand-up comic for years! Why would he "borrow" other comedians material when he knows it's wrong? I remember there was another magician on a few years ago that had one our specials revieling how the tricks were done. I don't think all of his specials aired though. He was in soooo much hot water for that! I did watch a little bit of the first special, but then I stopped because I decided, I didn't want to know!

I think a lot of comics try so hard, that they are blinded and that's why they do it.
I remember those specials. "The secrets of magic" I think the magician was "Valentino"

I guess comedy was the only thing Dustin had to fall back on.
