Apparently Dustin Diamond is about to lose his house to foreclosure. Here's a website that Diamond created to ask for money. (Be forewarned that Diamond uses some bad language here.) www.getdshirts.com/the_story.html

Until I see an official press release or I hear Dustin from Howard Stern say it, I am not paying money to some site for a t-shirt. I support Dustin 100%, but I need proof before putting money on the line. Sure he's in those pictures, but photoshop does wonders. I just want to be safe, and I hope you all are too. If it is true then I will buy a shirt, if one of his biggest fans doesn't support him, who will? I'm sorry to hear he's having problems, and he's the last person I want to see without a home.

Barb, I agree with you, although I do think that probably is his website.
However, the explanation of the foreclosure process on that website doesn't make any sense. If Dustin really has built up a lot of equity in his home, he should be able to get an equity line of credit. I can't imagine why he wouldn't be able to do so. Even if his other credit is bad, a bank or other lender could lend him the money he needs and take a lein against the equity he has built up. He makes it sound as though his house and all the equity he has built up is about be to stolen and there's nothing he can do about it.
Even if what he says is true, I don't see him selling 30,000 of those shirts in a month!

Did you see the link for RateComedy.com? You click on it and it opens up with a video of Dustin sitting in a bathtub talking about the site.

LOL. This is legit. I heard part of the interview this afternoon. My brother called me up and let me hear it over the phone. (he has Sirius radio) He's really selling the shirts. Apparently he will sign it with whatever you want to.

His story even made it onto "The Insider" on Wednesday! They did not make him look good. They said that he is looking to his fans to save his house! I am a huge fan of his, but I will not buy the t-shirt. If he had such bad credit in the first place, how did he get this house to begin with?

He got it because he did a land contract, which from what I understand is kind of like a rent to own deal, where they can call in the loan at any time, and usually do when the value goes up as much as his did. The owner of the house could make much more money selling it for the value now than to continue letting Dustin pay him monthly payments, it's business, this happens, you can't really blame a business man for wanting to make money, that's what they're in it for. I hear most land contracts end up this way, or the person gets a mortgage to buy out of the contract. In those years after getting the land contract, Dustin should have really worked to get a mortgage so he wouldn't be in this situation. I feel bad about it, but I believe it's Dustins fault. Maybe he didn't understand what his contract was since the owners son was a lawyer who told him it was a good deal. He's just not good with business decisions or money, plain and simple.

I blame this guy Aurthor for mis-leading Dustin! I understand that the rest of it is business.

Erika, thanks for the links! Does anyone know what Dustin means by "substantial tax miscalculations?" One of those articles reads: "The active run of the show happened before Diamond turned 18, and he said problems with his parents' spending his money and substantial tax miscalculations left him in debt as a young adult." Maybe that means he spent all of his pre-tax money and then was surprised when the IRS came looking for the tax he owed? By the way, this is by far the worst picture of Diamond I have ever seen: He looks like a corpse in that photo!

The crazy thing is even with bad credit it is possible to get a mortage or a home equity loan. It's not easy, but it's possible.

Dustin had better tell us if he does managed to arrange some other type of financing to raise the $250,000 to pay off his land contract. That would be disingenuous of him to continue to sell t-shirts if he no longer needs the money.
