Here's part of an interview with Mark-Paul...I'm sure many of you have already read it before, but I thought I'd share it for the ones who maybe haven't...
Was it hard losing your "Saved by the Bell " image and go on to be a serious adult actor?
Mark-Paul Gosselaar says:
The funny thing is, she says "serious actor" and we considered ourselves serious on "Saved by the Bell." It was just as tough as any job I've ever done. The only difference was that we were kids and didn't know what we were doing or how difficult it was because it came naturally to us. We've all had a hard time shedding the image because it still plays to this day 3 or 4 times a day. So it was hard for me to shed that blonde haired kid image and it took about 7 years for me to walk into a room and people not associate me with that character. I used to get peeved about it but now I take pride in the fact I was on a show for 6 years and we did such great work. Now I can look back and be proud.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar says:
It's great that people can still watch it. It's a show that can put a smile on your face. It's a show you can sit down and watch and walk away and not be any different. It's pure entertainment. Unlike "NYPD Blue" who is trying to make you open up your eyes. Every time you walk away, you feel a piece of the show is embedded in you.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar says:
"Saved by the Bell" was like a video yearbook for me. So if anyone out there is having a hard time, just remember that everyone was watching us during that uncomfortable time in our lives. (laughs)
Digital Dish Diva says:
You were a pretty good looking kid, MP.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar says:
I don't look at myself as sexy. If I did start thinking and saying that my wife would tell me to take a walk around the block. (laughs)
