Did Dustin and Jennifer not have any health insurance when she had her pregnancy problems? I'm just wondering why they were personally on the hook for the $125,000 in medical fees he mentioned on the Howard Stern Show. That's scary if they did have health insurance but still managed to rack up those fees.

Dustin called in to Kevin and Bean this morning and said that they did not have medical insurance. Here's a link to their website: www.kroq.com/kevinandbean/sounds.htmlYou can listen to his interview there, but it's pretty much the same story.

Wow, and to think he played a character who was valedictorian of his class.
Diamond doesn't need a financial advisor... he needs a slap of reality. He deserves everything he's getting now.

Wow, and to think he played a character who was valedictorian of his class. Ha!! Maybe Jessie really was the smarter one. She may have made a few bad career choices here and there, but at least she's not going to be homeless in the near future (as far as I know).

Some people just cannot afford health insurance. We don't really know the actual income of Dustin, so it's hard to say...but some people can't, and if he's really having problems then it may be too much for him. Now he could always look for a full-time job with benefits and pay for your insurance through there, but if you are off on your own it can be really high. For my mom and me it's about $700 a month...just for the two of us, can you say expensive?! lol Of course we both have health conditions so that makes it go up a bit, but yeah. It's expensive for some people.

Barb, we may not know Dustin's income, but we do know that he somehow came up with $125k to pay the hospital. I assume that must have come from savings. I would think that he probably could have acquired high-deductible health insurance for Jennifer and he for a few hundred dollars per month that would have covered him in case of an expensive medical emergency like what happened to Jennifer.
Even if Jennifer hadn't had the medical issues with her pregnancy, I think that the cost of normal hospital care when giving birth would be at least $10-20k. Does anyone else know how much it would cost?
