Here's my 2 cents. If you believe that races should stay with there own "kind", then you are either a racist, or you are prejudiced. Not necessarily. Just because you're pro-"whatever" doesn't automatically make you anti-"whichever". Just like Carrie said, there are a lot of layers. Don't presume to know until you have a discussion with a person who holds those views. Agreed. I don't know how to explain why it's that way, but it is. I guess it's just how society is, and everything else combined with it. You just have this idea of how you want your family to be, and it's just that. Sorry, I don't know how to explain. It's attraction too, like we've said in the past...but it's more than that. It's not racism...not in the least bit. It's just how things are.

Sooo what I'm trying to say is, that you shouldn't let things get you down or let them bother you...accept them, embrace them, and life will be a lot better. I think you're totally right. But it's sometimes so hard to think that way, I mean there's so much misery in the world and then it's so easy to forget the beautiful things in life.

It's that way because we allow it to be that way. Barb, you an The Animal said yourselves that you would never date a black person. Why? The Animal used the word "preferences" in his post. My preference is any guy that that will treat me with the respect I deserve and want to be with me for who I am. Just as I would with them. I don't care what there race culture or creed is. I'm white, but if I meet a man, no matter what his race culture or creed, if we hit it off, I'm not going to be happy and go for it. When anybody in society stops saying that they would prefer not to date someone of a specific race, more and more barriers will be broken down. SBTB was culture and color blind. The pairing of Elizabeths character and Mario's character proved that. I have never heard of them being refered to as a white girl and a Mexican boy dating because it didn't matter. What mattered is that her character was a strong independent woman and his character loved and respected that about her. Barb, as for you going to work and being in such a good mood with the world in such turmoil? I say, KEEP IT UP! I think by doing that you are spreading this message that since you can't literally do anything to stop the horrible things that are going on, this is a way to get more positivity going in the world. I watch the news and am disgusted with what I see. The best thing we can do is be positive about the good things that are happening in the world and be thankfull for what we have. Just be kind to each other. Barb, you are doing a great thing by having such a positive attitude. It doesn't mean you don't care, I think it means that this is the only thing you can do about it and if your co-workers can understand that, maybe it could catch on.

Take and give love wherever you can find it. Love is bigger than race, age, gender, religion or anything else.

Hey Gang,
I was going through some of the threads and ran across this one. I will give my two cents on interracial dating/marriage from a religious point of view...
I believe we all come from Adam and Eve and that being the case then there is no such thing as interracial dating/marriage. As time wore on and people moved from one place to another their bodies adapted to their environments (i.e. skin color, hair color, etc.). Over time people became different, they looked different, spoke differently, etc. Therefore, in my humble opinion, it's the sin of bigotry and prejudice that makes interracial dating/marriage intolerable, and people that call themselves religious but won't tolerate a so called "mixed" marriage aren't reading the book of Genesis correctly. If they were they would see their folly. Again, just my $0.02!
