That's really cool. I agree, he does a great job being a host. Thanks for posting the article.

Sports journalists are already taking shots at him. This is from a CNNSI piece:
"Mario Lopez: The former Saved By The Bell star has been named the co-anchor of ESPN Hollywood, ESPN2's upcoming show that will document the intersection of Hollywood and the sports world. Lopez has a dizzying amount of six-degrees-of-separation connections to sports. In addition to portraying noted wrestler A.C. Slater, Lopez played diver Greg Louganis. He was also married for about two weeks to former Doritos girl Ali Landry, who hails from the same hometown (Breaux Bridge, La.) as football players Jake Delhomme and Domanick Davis, and who once dated quarterback Stoney Case. Lopez reportedly beat out Dustin Diamond for the coveted slot."

Okay.... I just read the post that mistermadonna put up for us. It was harsh, they talked about his personal life, which is none of there business, and I think that Mario is going to be having them it their own words! I have seen alot of Mario's hosting duties, and at the beggining I thought he was a little rocky, but when he did The Other Half with Dick Clark, I think he learned alot. I found that he was getting better and better. A couple of years ago he co-hosted Extra for a week and he has Co-hosted a couple of weekend editions of the show. I think he is going to do great! I don't get the station so if anyone could fill me in on how he's doing, it would be greatly appreciated! As for those sports casters, all I have to say is !

He`s always going to always get a degree of slack simply due to the fact that he was once Slater. It`s unfair but you know that is the ONLY reason why he is dissed so easily.

Carrie, You are absuletly right! It's still going to be a long time before he stoppes getting slack from being on the show. Unfortunetly, he has to work even harder at being taken seriously by some people. He will have those sports journalists eating there words! Luckily because he has been involved in sports and been involved in the entertainment industry for so long, I would be very surprised if those comments affect him in any way. I once heard an actress on an interview say that if your in this business and you fall apart the first time your're insulted like that, you won't survive! But Mario has been in the business since he was a child. And I'm sure he has faced harsh criticizim before, so he knows how to handle it. Plus he still as that project with Spike Lee! He's a busy guy!

Question! I have to admit I have not followed the careers of the others on SBTB as I have Mario's. So, I was wondering if the others always have a reference to SBTB when they get a new part of appear on another show. Or, is it because he has not had the sucess as say Mark has? I appreciate any input anyone has on this question.

Here's a sample of what will be on the show: The new half-hour show, "ESPN Hollywood," is set to debut Aug. 15, with first-week segments spotlighting the likes of basketball icon Shaquille O'Neal, sibling tennis champions Serena and Venus Williams and NFL star quarterback Tom Brady.
But the focus of each piece will be on their off-field -- or off-court -- performance as celebrities, such as Shaq spinning records as a nightclub DJ or Brady posing for a photo shoot in GQ magazine.
British rocker Ozzy Osbourne also is set to make an early appearance on the show, backstage after a concert for a one-on-one "hookup" with one of his biggest fans, Philadelphia Eagles fullback Jon Ritchie. And rapper Jay-Z, part owner of the New Jersey Nets, will be featured as he opens another branch of his 40/40 Club sports bar.
"Wherever there is an intersection of sports and entertainment, we're going to be there. That's what our show is all about," executive producer Bill Bonnell told Reuters on Tuesday.
He described the format as similar to such celebrity-driven syndicated shows as "Entertainment Tonight" and "Access Hollywood," but with a decidedly sports-centered flavor.
Other subjects ripe for attention on "Hollywood ESPN" might be "Desperate Housewives" co-star Eva Longoria's relationship with Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs, or Britney Spears' interest in owning a NASCAR team, Bonnell said.
The new show will be co-hosted by Thea Andrews, formerly of the ESPN morning talk show "Cold Pizza," and Mario Lopez, who once starred as the kind-hearted high school jock A.C. Slater on NBC's "Saved By the Bell." He more recently appeared with Dick Clark and Danny Bonaduce on the short-lived, male-oriented talk show "The Other Half."
"ESPN Hollywood" is one of several new original shows coming to ESPN2 as part of an effort to blend traditional event coverage on the network with more sports-related entertainment programs.

I don`t think I have ever really seen him interact with hollywood celebs. He is always hosting so to see him interview other celebs will be awesome.

I don`t think I have ever really seen him interact with hollywood celebs. He is always hosting so to see him interview other celebs will be awesome. Well, as a host for The Other Half, we saw him do that quite often. And he did it for Access Hollywood, I believe it was. He will not have a problem doing this job. He's really good at it.
