I think that if we, as fans, show Lions Gate that we are not pleased with the DVD releases, perhaps by letting TVShowsonDVD.com know, and posting negative reviews on Amazon, maybe we can get their attention. I know this isn't the biggest injustice in the world, LOL, so it may feel pointless to put a whole lot of energy toward it, but we can at least do small things to show them that we're unsatisfied with these DVDs. You know what else stinks? On some of the flashback episodes on the DVDs, they actually show footage that has been cut from previous episodes. I guess it's better nothing, because we can see some of the cut material, but I also feel like it's rubbing it in, showing us what was missing.

I think we should leave Lions Gate alone. I`m through with them and they are probably through with us. A cover change is different than an entire re-release of a dvd set. Sure we deserve better but it`s what we got and I`m ready to get pass it. I`ve got my videos.

I would like one too, but it'll never happen. Reason? If they do, its like saying they produce crappy ass DVD's.(Which is somewhat true). Exactly why this battle would be a loosing one.

I'm with Carrie. Maybe the box sets aren't the most quality DVDs ever released but at least they released them! and they do a great thing listening the fans and changing the original cover for the last season. So I think they are ok. I've seen far worse DVD... believe me! They did a commentary track, a documentary... I think it's not necessary to be angry with them.

I know it's unlikely that they will re-release these DVDs, but they at least have to know that it is unsatisfactory to release edited DVDs. I could see the same thing on TV like 4 times a day. With TVShowonDVD.com demanding that studios own up to their mistakes, we can at least find out what they did what they did. I would never have bought the DVDs if I knew they were syndicated. As some people at the Home Theater Forum have said, would you buy a movie on DVD that was an edited version shown on TV? I don't think so. (Note: I'm not trying to be rude or cause a stir, but simply let people know what our rights are as consumers.)

And I am not sure if you are aware, but Lions Gate is already aware of our feelings and concerns....I have sent several letters to them. And they simply do no respond with a straight answer. They just blame others for what they were provided. Not much else we can do. And apparently, it isn't just the SBTB DVD's that they have released not up to par.

Erika, have you heard of them getting into any trouble for any of this? If it's not only the SBTB DVD's that this is being done to, hasn't anyone gone forward to sue them or something? Do you happen to know anything about that?

Do you happen to know anything about that? They can't really get into trouble for anything...they didn't do anything wrong. They just didn't make them the way we wanted them to.

I'm happy with the dvd's regardless. Although deleted scenes would be great!

It's not just the Cosby Show, and Saved By The Bell... it's also Married With Children. On the Season 4 DVD which came out yesterday, there are about 7 syndicated episodes on that DVD. There's a Married With Children site I visit on a daily bases and they started a petition. And some people even said they won't buy the DVD because of the syndicated episodes. It seems it's become a new trend in DVD releases these days.

Barb, I was also thinking that to when I asked Erika that question. Unless they are breaking a law, they can't get into trouble. Unless there is a law stated that says all TV DVD's must be released using uncut episodes, then there really isn't anything they can get into trouble for.

Yeah, unfortunately, it's most likely not illegal. It's definitely immoral, but not illegal. For more information on TV on DVD, I'd recommed visiting the Home Theater Forum (there's a link from TVShowsonDVD.com). A lot of those people are extremely hardcore collectors, so they have a lot of knowledge about this subject, and they often discuss syndicated episodes. I think we should definitely start a petition like the MwC fans did. I'm almost positive that LG won't do anything, but at least to spread the knowledge that these DVDs are cut, and to let LG know that we are unsatisfied.

that's an interesting article Barb. it says that ppl are dissapointed at the Cosby Show DVDs, i think i'm dissapointed in SBTB DVDs (tho good, but could be better!) b/c it seems that Lions Gate made no effort besides copying it on a DVD. how come they dont show ANY bloopers, or dont have commentaries in most of the episodes (none in Season 1 and 2 esp), and no special feature. it's weird too because seasons 1-4 have the same dvd interactive main menu, but season 5 is completely different. i love season 5's layout, it's very refreshing, but it's just inconsistant w/ season 1-4. if they plan to make it interesting and unique, they should change the menu layout for every seaon so it's not so odd. do you guys have the Friends DVDs? i have seasons 1-9, and those are pretty good in terms of having lots of special feature, having commentaries, and consistant main menu nagavation. ************ oh, i have a question: how do you guys know if a scene is 'missing' or something is "sydicated version'. to me it seems alright, i coudln't tell if the episodes are the sydicated version. so interesting! I swear if one more person posts asking about things that no longer exist(bloopers, deleted scenes) I may go crazy. Clearly you didn't get the point of the article. Which is (for the most part) that distrubuters can only put out what they have
