That would be a great idea, but I doubt it would happen. I doubt Lions Gate would put that much effort into the show. They did it to the DVD Cover, but that didn't take as much time. This one would.

The only way of it ever happening is when they go to re-release everything all over again in a new format later on down the road. And by then the masters will really be old if they still exist, so I doubt they'll be used...they'll probably use these dvd's instead. My hopes for the future are more bonus features if they ever plan to re-release onto another format (I know they won't for DVDs)...and that will be a while. I know some of you are going to say well, there weren't bloopers or behind the scenes footage for a reason because cameras didn't keep rolling...Who says it has to be that? What about having different documentaries (doesn't have to be interviews of the cast...interviews of the crew or hehe even us -just playing-) or video commentaries of them watching it or more audio commentaries. The list of bonus features can go on such as trivia, games (although I never play the games anyways), or even the cast/crew's own stash of behind the scenes pictures...I know they have them. It'll be a while if it ever happens, but that's my hope for the future. And if it doesn't happen I'll know why...it will be because the show just wasn't their high priority tv show. By the time the new formats come out there will already be so many new tv shows that have been canceled or are new to tv...so whatever happens, happens.

Who is to say that the original episodes exist in the first place? Someone in this thread mentioned the quality of the Friends DVDs. You know why? Because now we have the technology to convert these master reels into DVDs and since that show just ended, the stars of the show were available at that time to film the bloopers, the extras, the commentaries, and all that other extra stuff we love on our DVDs. SBTB started filming nearly 20 years ago, back when we were still on Betamax! No one ever thought that in 20 years, we would be releasing little discs that could contain every little aspect of a single episode, much less behind-the-scenes stuff. That would, first of all, explain the lack of extras. It's implausible to hunt down the stars of this show and ask them what they were thinking during the filming of an episode back in 1993... 12 years ago! So why don't some of our SBTB DVDs have these extras? It's very likely they were never filmed to begin with. As far as the full episodes, it's been made very clear that Lions Gate produced the DVDs with the material with which they were supplied. It's natural for some of these older shows to be missing material that was filmed all those years ago in contrast to some of these newer shows being released on DVD that have every second recorded. Now, let's supposed that the original versions were kept intact, but we were given syndicated episodes on our DVDs. That is not immoral by any means. Lions Gate offered us Season 1, and what did we get? Season 1. They didn't say "Season 1: The Uncut Versions" or "Season 1: Just As They Were First Filmed". They gave us every episode that was filmed for the first season... then the second... then the third, etc. They didn't trick us, deceive us, or lie to us. They gave us Season 1. It's very unlikely also that they will re-release the episodes on DVD later. Why? 2 reasons. The first is that they have not done it with any other show, so I very highly doubt SBTB will be the first, no matter how many hundreds of fans it has supporting it. Besides, it would cause serious confusion to call it "Season 1: Re-Released"?? That would require Lions Gate to admit that their first releases failed (which they didn't... let's face it, you bought the DVDs anyway, right?). Even worse, if another company picks up the re-releases, it would cause a bidding war between it and Lions Gate as if they were trying to show them up. Plus, Lions Gate is very unlikely to sell the licensing to another company to release the episodes a second time anyway. The second reason why they will not likely be re-released is a money issue. Sure, fans of this board are upset that they did not receive their episodes in their full, original entirety, but is that enough to justify the cost of marketing and distributing of these same episodes with a few scenes here and there? It's OK for a movie, but again, not every movie has it's re-release with added features. Besides, MOST people who already bought the DVDs will not buy them a second time, since the issue of deleted original scenes will be irrelevant to the casual fan. In fact, I will bet most people at this forum wouldn't buy them a second time anyway. It's just not marketable or profitable for any company to mass-produce these DVDs a second time. I think that the thing people tend to forget(not that you did) was that if any other company would have released the show we would have gotten the exact same eps in the fashion they were in.

My VHS versions are much better picture quality (much more brighter) - oh well - we will have to keep the chopped up dvd's. Iam pleased to say, that I have every season of the New Class and nothing has been cut and the picture quality is superb. I would highly recommend the new class. The only disapointment is those stupid cases. The cover gets all wrinkly.

My guess would be that they are right from the box set.

Thanks Barb. They have the runtimes listed, but I don't know offhand what the edited and broadcast runtimes were. Most of them on iTunes are about 22:15, though some over 23 minutes, which mostly does sound the edited times, if I recall correctly.

My guess would be that they are right from the box set. They wouldn't be straight from the box set since it is a different company with different licencing rights

I just took a look and I guess I was wrong. It just says they are from NBC. But yeah, I still don't think they're unedited episodes, I'd have to compare running times. I'll do that later.

What was missing from the eps? How do u know there was deleted scenes? And were any eps missing? There are several scenes missing. We know because a lot of us have been watching for years and we've seen the scenes before. When a show goes into syndication (repeats) you lose moments and/or scenes, this happens with all shows. There is more commercials in repeats so they have to make room for them, so that means less show. And no episodes are missing, they're all there.

The episode runtimes on iTunes range from 22:15 to 23:20. Possibly some of them are the syndicated versions? Oh well, I've pretty given up on looking for the uncut episodes. I've decided that one day, they will find me.

I wonder if anyone would ever release a complete SBTB boxset for fans...all 5 seasons + college years and the two movies, maybe run it at $200, and include the lost scenes. That would do it for me
