Some episodes have been edited in a particular scene, but the scene continues. So you can't say Lions Gate didn't have the full episoide. Take for instance the first episode, the opening scene. They cut out Zach on his answer phone . Scenes were cut for syndication to allow for local commercial ads. It's very probable that Lions Gate were given these episodes in much larger circulation than the original, unedited episodes. Scenes were not necessarily cut at the beginning or the end, just cut at a timeframe where it does not detract from the point of the scene.

We're talking original, uncut...not just an episode with the whole storyline, etc. We just wanted the episode how it was originally aired...so it isn't in its entirity, and I'm ok with that...it would just be really nice to have the whole episode. And I agree...it was filmed a long time ago, we may never know the real answer...I just wonder how Good Times got their hands on the full versions and if they still have them (do they even still exist?).

That's what they are talking about mn. They understand ya. Re-read the Animal's post. Lions Gate did not edit anything. They were given the edited episodes aired in syndication instead of the original un-cut versions first aired on NBC to put on the DVD's. Get it?

I do believe it would be against the law for Lions Gate to delete any scenes. Why would they anyway? They worked with what they were given! As much as I dislike Lions Gate, you can't blame them for anything they didn't do.

Episodes on syndication are cut to allow the syndicating channel more time to run commercials and generate revenue. But assuming Lions Gate had the original episodes, it would be stupid to cut episodes because they wouldn't be making more money if they did, as opposed to syndicated telecasts. They'd be cutting material and doing extra work with nothing to gain. It would be horrendously dumb, but it's by no means, illegal.

We have to think of it this way . . . At least our favorite show came out on dvd. We should be satisfied with this alone. We shouldn't dwell on things that probably won't happen. I mean there are a lot of shows out there that haven't even reached to dvd yet, and they may never.

Animal. I know why shows in syndication get scenes cut out. I'm with you and zach. I have all 5 seasons on DVD and now I'm at the point where I'm ready to just move on! ;D
